Frequently Asked Questions

1.  Do you screen sitters/care givers?

Sitterplanet does not screen care givers.  It is you who must decide what is best for your family.  We can give suggestions to help you decide what’s best for you.  First read the reviews on a care giver’s profile.  Then conduct an in-person interview with the care giver.  Third, check their references.  And last, there are many online resources you can find to do a background check on them.

2.  How can I get a sitter/care giver job through Sitterplanet?

It’s free to sign up.  You just have to be 18 yrs of age or older.  Only registered members can apply for jobs through Sitterplanet.

3.  How do we make sure the sitters/care givers are great?

We rank our sitters/care givers through feedback from previous jobs at Sitterplanet.  Also, you see what certifications they carry in their profile and what experience they have.

4.  How do I find a good sitter/care giver?

Knowing what to look for when you are interviewing a potential candidate for a care giver is important.  You want someone who is prompt and can be on time to an interview.  Also, ask what qualifies them to be a good sitter.  Many candidates are studying education and child development in school and have a special interest in the welfare of children.  Have the potential candidate meet with your child or elder person and see if there is a good rapport with each other and that they engage your child.  Ask them what certifications and/or education they have or are studying.  They may be CPR certified or have taken a class in child development and this may be important information for you.

5.  How much do I pay a sitter/care giver?

It depends on the number of children, the distance they are from you, age of the sitter, the amount of experience they have, and the time period of the job.  Many college babysitters charge between $10-$13/hour sometimes rates are as high as $10-$20/hour depending on where you live with rates being higher in urban areas.  Also if they are doing elder care and hold many certifications they may earn more.

6.  How do I cancel my membership?

Go to the my account tab to cancel.
